Senior Fisheries Scientist/Engineering Manager

Location: Anchorage

Do you thrive in an autonomous environment and also have the ability to develop, manage and mentor a small team of natural resource professionals and technicians? Do you have a minimum of 10 years experience in the natural resource arena with 5 or more years experience in consulting?

Our esteemed Northwest client, with an office in Anchorage, is a leader in technical support in the relicensing or licensing of hydroelectric projects, water rights, development of Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs), Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Environmental Site Assessments and project implementation. Their clients include utilities, mining companies, timber companies, water agencies, irrigators, municipalities, federal and state government agencies, and tribes.

We are looking for an ambitious consultant who is proficient or able to manage the following:

  • Fisheries studies
  • Ecological and fish population modeling
  • Threatened and endangered species investigations
  • Aquatic invertebrate sampling and analysis
  • In stream flow evaluations
  • Flushing flow and sediment transport studies
  • Water resources and hydrological investigations
  • Water quality monitoring and modeling
  • Fish passage evaluations including barrier analysis
  • Fish passage concept development, cost estimating, and facilities design
  • Channel and habitat restoration – culvert replacement for fish passage
  • Wetland and riparian ecological studies and habitat assessments
  • Application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
